The recording and the composition earn separately. Distribution can cover the first while the second still waits on registrations, ownership data and matching.

Questions, answered

Before you join.

Do I keep ownership of my songs?+

Yes. You retain 100% ownership of your copyright. Sonet administers the publishing rights covered by your agreement without taking ownership of the songs.

How does Sonet get paid?+

There is no upfront fee. Sonet retains 15% of the net publishing receipts it collects and the remaining 85% is accounted to you.

Does my distributor already handle this?+

Usually not. A distributor normally delivers and accounts for the sound recording. Publishing administration manages the composition, its registrations, ownership data and eligible publishing royalties.
